THEME

Cybersteel - Farewell is a Boys Love/Action webcomic created by WendiBones & Thiefmarine . The contest theme is the realization of a full colors illustration, 16,5x24cm, and the 3 winning illustrations will be printed in the hard copy of 'Cybersteel - Farewell' in both English and Italian version.

The preorder of the book will be open just after the end of the contest
and the end of the proclamation of the winners.
The books will be shipped to the winners approximately in August/September 2014,
in September/October if you want the Italian version.
The 3 copies for the winners are signed by the 2 authors.

RULES

BE CAREFUL: rules in bold and with * are NEW!

To participate in the contest and be elegible as winners is necessary:

To create an artwork with printing sizes of 16,5x24 cm.
To create an illustration with the main characters of the CyberSteel story as protagonists (Alex, Kevin, Jelom, Upper, Anger, Irene, Perry, Oberon).
You can draw just one characters or more, and up to all 8 main characters of the CyberSteel - Farewell story.*
Characters can also be represented in couples or groups. You can't create imaginary couples (Alex and Kevin kissing is okay, Jelom and Anger kissing is NOT okay).*
Fighting scenes are accepted.*
Characters can be shown as Pin-ups or can be placed in contexts or backgrounds as long as the backgrounds are not too different from the ones shown in the story. For example, if the story is set in a urban location, the characters can't be represented by the sea or in the mountains.
Characters can't be Out of Characters. For example there is no need to represent Alex in a bathtub when he's afraid of water. Read the characters descriptions below and, if you have any question, please ask to WendiBones .
Winners should fill and sign a form to allow the creators to print their artwork inside the 'CyberSteel - Farewell' hardcopy. Without the artist permission, the artworks can't be printed.
Multiple entries are allowed, but only one entry per artist can win.
Your illustration must be vertical!*

CATEGORICAL PROHIBITIONS

Final illustrations can't have huge watermarks on it, otherwise it will be disqualified. Minor signatures are permitted.
Black and White images are not allowed.
Illustrations less than 300dpi or of different format won't be accepted.
Drawing different characters from the CyberSteel - Farewell ones is not allowed, neither drawing secondary characters of the comic not included in the lists above.
You're not allowed to change the characters appearance (like giving them cat ears, furry, tails or something like that).
Using copyrighted contents is not allowed (like using backgrounds from Google, etc.)
Creating horizontal illustrations (24x16,5 cm instead of 16,5x24 cm) is not allowed.*

To be elegible as winners is necessary to create an RGB illustration, 300dpi resolution, 16,5x24 cm. Template downloadable above.
Traditional and digital works are allowed. It's possible to use textures and free stock, as long as you may use them for commercial purpose and no attribution needed.

NOT ALLOWED MEDIA

Comics, photomanipulations, photography, fractal, abstract, 3D art and animations are not allowed.

Your entry must be a NEW deviation made exclusively for this contest.
In your deviation comment you MUST mention this contest and add a link or thumbnail of this journal. It happened many times that people forgot to add the link to our contest in your Deviation comment, please remember to add it before submitting your entry.
Send a NOTE to WendiBones with "CONTEST ENTRY" as object, compiling the following form. The full size must be in your Sta.sh, no external links. Messages in my main page or under this journal won't be accepted.

FAQ

Q: Is minimal color accepted?
A: Minimal color is not accepted.
The entry should be in colors, this means it can't be in black and white in any part.
I think the best way to consider a work in color is to check the thumbnail and see if the colors appear in the image preview.
Even if the shade of grey is a bit colored, it's not considered in colors.

Q: Are 'unnatural' color schemes accepted?
A: Yes. They are accepted! Sample below.

Q: Does the style matter? I know the style of each individual artist varies greatly, but should the entries try to reflect your artistic style in at least some way? Should the style be at least somewhat realistic?
A: Not at all, the entry should be in YOUR style. If you trace to get a semi-realism still we will notice.

Q: Will an entry that looks too 'cartoony' or 'scratchy' be something that is not what you are looking for?
A: Cartoon style is okay. It can be 'scratchy' too but it must be a finished illustration, not a sketch. Remember we will judge on the base of 'Accuracy' too. :) (Smile)

Q: For traditional art drawings, the scan or picture must be uploaded so that the file is 2020x2906 resolution?
A: Yes, different medium same rules.
You can scan traditional art at whatever resolution then you can change the size in Photoshop or other software and crop the drawing.
You can either post a photo of a traditional drawing as long as it looks finished and with proper shading.

Q: Will a larger resolution be disqualified?
A: The larger resolutions won't be disqualified as long as the proportions are the same.

Q: I saw you approved an entry with snow. Is it considered Out of Character, since it doesn't appear in the story?
A: Not at all. Atmospheric agents can happen. It doesn't affect the story setting.

Q: So where does the story take place?
A: In Germany, Europe, near Stuttgart.
